First of all... sorry for disappearing. Things have been a little hectic here as of late. First there was the windows. The council have been promising double glazing for ages and decided that December 2nd was the perfect date. So, we were busy moving furniture around to allow easy access to all the windows. I had to move onto a mattress in the lounge since my bed needed standing up at the side of the bedroom and a bunch of stuff was shoved in there for storage.

We finally got the bed put back in it's rightful place on Monday. We also gave the house a good clean. But even though the bed was back in place I was still on the mattress until last night since James and Dawn were in my bed for Wednesday and Thursday night.

My uncle Keith died on the 4th of December. He was diagnosed with cancer just three weeks before he died. His body was completely full of it. A 10cm tumor in his hip and the cancer was all in his chest, legs and spine. My mum has been in pieces. I've been doing my best to comfort her, but she's heart-broken. The funeral was yesterday. It was a nice service - as far as funerals go, at least.

We've also been getting ready for Christmas. I've been putting up the trees and I've got a few presents wrapped. I need to get the rest done soon and buy the last few I need. The cakes need to be doctored with brandy a few more times, then they'll need marzipan and icing. I'm also making truffles closer to Christmas (which isn't all that long now). And, of course, we need to get all the food in ready for cooking Christmas dinner for nine people.

A BIG, big, big thank you to Ai and Haku for the virtual gifts. ♥ I love you both. Spaking of gifts, my Nan gave me money, so I bought myself a silver birch tree! I hope it survives!

My condolences to you and your family; losing a loved one is always difficult. We lost my aunt suddenly last month, and my uncle was diagnosed with cancer earlier this fall as well. Seeing the toll all of this has taken on them, I can picture how broken up your mom is and how hard it's got to be for you, trying to comfort her. So... *hugs* for you.

I'm so sorry about your uncle, hun. My grandma was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and it took her in 6 weeks. It's amazing how quickly it can take a loved one away. With my grandpa, he nearly died of lung cancer when I was a senior in high school... but by some kind of miracle (I believe it was the will to live to take care of my grandma, who had MS for 12 years before she was diagnosed with the cancer), he went into remission for 5 years. It came back last year and took him in about two months. I can't believe it's been over a year already. To put it in my grandma's own words, "Damn cancer." *sigh*

I know it's kind of cliche to say, but if you ever need anyone to vent to or anything... feel free to drop me a message or something. Sometimes it just helps to vent. :)
