Jul. 10th, 2011 09:58 pmI really need to learn to update this thing more often. I'm totally getting worse instead of better. I suppose since I only really go out to work and nothing else then there's never all that much exciting to write about...
Been back and forth to the hospital a lot over the last few months to the sleep clinic. One of the requirements for getting a gastric band is to be checked for sleep apnea. I had to have blood tests and go to Boston to pick up a sleep study machine, wear it overnight and then trail back to Boston to take it back the next day - well, Mum trailed back for me since she has a free bus pass.
So, yeah. I have very mild sleep apnea and now have to use a CPAP machine when I sleep. I've had it four nights now and I'm not getting on very well with it. They gave me a full face mask which covers my nose and mouth and I hate it. I'm hoping when I have my 4 month review I can get a nose mask instead. But basically, the machine blows air into you all night and if you stop breathing in your sleep it gives a larger burst of air to reopen your airways.
Speaking of the gastric band, that's totally on hold for the forseeable future. I don't want it if I can help it, and since I'm doing so well by myself I'm not going to pursue it any further. It's nice to know I have it to fall back on if I hit a brick wall with the weight loss. My current weight is 27st 7lb 2oz, I've lost about 4st in total now - I'm not sure of my exact starting weight, but I know it was closer to 32st than 31st. It's a slow process, but at least it's going in the right direction. Some people have commented that you can really tell in my face, and my brother said it's easier to hug me now.
James, Dawn, Dylan and Amy visited yesterday. We went to the village feast and fair. Dylan went on the ladybug ride and we played hook a duck, walked round the stalls - I totally bought a cyberman and then went to the village park and took the dog along with us. It was really nice to see them all and I was able to give James his 30th birthday cake at last. His birthday was June 21, but it's the first time I've seen him in ages - luckily it was a fruit cake, and they keep for months! Dylan is still as cheeky and funny as ever, and Amy is growing so fast. She's bumshuffling and pulling herself up onto her feet. Funny to think that Amy and Lady will both be 1 year old next month!
It was Dad's birthday on Friday. I got him some Animal muppet pyjamas, baked some blue fairy cakes and made the world's most expensive card ever - upon putting my good paper into the printer to make my card, I accidentally picked up my sheet of plastic, which then melted onto the lasr printer's fuser - thus, new printer. I wasn't very popular. The card looks good though >.>
Two more weeks to go until the Summer Holidays! I'm really excited about the break from work, but I'm a little sad that one of the teachers I adore - Laura - is going on maternity leave. I really hope she comes back afterwards, but I'm not so sure she will. It'll be sad to lose her.
So, f-list! How are you? What have I missed? What are you all up to?
