Jul. 5th, 2010 10:33 amI really need to learn to update this thing more often! And comment more often too. Just reading peoples' entries really isn't enough.
Right, where to start...
Well, James, Dawn, Dylan and 'Bump' (aka Amy) came to stay for a week. It meant giving up my room for a week, but it was really nice having them here. They even bought me a cute little notebook and a pair of earrings as a thank you. I'll upload the pictures of the week I took sometime, but for now here's a recap of events:
We went to Skegness on the 20th June, which was also Father's Day. Mum, James, Dawn and Dylan went in one car and Dad and I went in the other. We went on the beach and paddled in the sea. Then we went up on the pier and ate doughnuts. We then went and bought a bucket and spade and went back on the beach to play football and build sandcastles until dinnertime. Then we walked up to a chip shop for some chips. And then we went for a walk around the ruins and lake, looking at the ducks and geese. We had a little play in the arcades. There was the cutest bushbaby in the teddy grabber, but I didn't win it ;_;. Then we went to Nature Land and saw all the creatures there. Then we had a drink and walked back to the car and home.
We all got terribly sunburned. It wasn't particularly hot but it was really windy. The next day James, Dawn and Dylan headed off to Lincoln to do some shopping but they ended up making a detour to a walk-in medical centre because Dylan's face all swelled up and blistered from his sunburn. He was given some medicine.
Tuesday, James, Dawn, Dylan and me headed off to Rutford Abbey and Sherwood Forest. We walked around the lake in the Abbey grounds and it brought back a lot of memories of when James and I went there as a child. A goose tried to eat me - bet it was the same one that bit me before! Or an offspring of it! Evil thing! We saw cygnet swans, goslings and even baby moorhens. It was really nice. Then we went to Sherwood Forest and had lunch in the restaurant, before going on the walk to the Major Oak - one of my favourite places in the whole world. It's just so beautiful!
On Monday, my mum was taken into hospital. She felt terrible and she was being violently sick. She went to the docotr's in the evening and the doctor tried to get her into the hospital but they had no beds, so she advised mum to go straight to A&E and get in that way. The hospital thought it was her gall bladder at first, but it turns out it's an inflammed liver - but they don't know what caused it. She had to have antibiotics by drip to try and get her temperature down. She was in hospital until Wednesday night. And bedrest after that. She was up a lot yesterday and today.
On Wednesday they attempted to visit Lincoln again, this time dragging mum along. No medical trips were required! On Thursday they went to Hubbard's Hills, another place from our childhood. And on Friday they headed home. It was a fun, busy week. I can't believe how much Dylan has grown since I last saw him, and he is just so smart and wonderful. He's really chattering in his own way now. It's too cute!
Had a dentist appointment the other week and need one bit of filling work done on my front tooth. not too surprised by it. They've both been a mess since I smashed them when I was 11. The other front one has no nerve in it, it's all black and I hate it. Happily surprised that I don't need any at the back of my mouth this time! Yay me!
I had my ECG on Tuesday. I go to discuss the results on the 13th.
Having a blast at my new roleplay
genes_world. Our group is small, but it's so much fun. I'm really enjoying playing Gene Hunt. He's so unlike all the other muses I have, and because of the point in canon I take him from, there is a really deep, unexplored side to him that I love.
