Mar. 25th, 2007 08:33 pmSuch a hectic weekend!! I haven't even had time to look at my PS2 much less play any FFXII.
We took a drive out to look at a dog yesterday. Advertised as a 10 month old, white GSD - although the ad was old so he's now 11 and a half months. He was at a small village pub out in a caged space with 3 other dogs and then there were others in other caged spaces. He's never lived indoors and was caked in knots, mud and bodily waste, but we decided to bring him home on a week's trial and see if he settles.
He threw up in the car on the way home - he suffers from travel sickness - he had a diarrhea accident when he got out of the car, thought he'd been naughty and bolted, slipping his collar and ran straight out onto the busy road by our house - how this car didn't hit him I didn't know. Dad slowed another fast drived down, who then stopped so other cars would see, and Dad drove the other way and stopped to stop traffic that way. Eventually Mum collared the dog in a hedge and put the lead on so it threaded through the handle rather than clipped the way it was meant to. I tried to walk him home and he bit my hand real bad, attached himself to it - but didn't break the skin, so Mum dragged him home.
He mantled and paced something crazy, every little thing spooked him. I was dying of an asthma attack in the corner and we were in two minds to take him back in case he bit me again. I've never feared any dog in my life, but he scared me.
We decided to give him a chance, and got a few of the worst knots off his back end and washed him up a little, he slept in the porch and seemed to settle all night.
Today he's been out in Garden and made no attempt to escape, he's had a bath (still not super clean but the poop is all off), we've been brushing the knots out gradually - it'll take weeks to get them all sorted. He also has a sore on his ear from fighting with one of the other dogs at the pub that we need to keep a eye on so it doesn't get infected.
He had a piddle accident in the front room, but it was the first wee he'd had in the whole time we'd had him. He just had his second att he park. He's supposed to be trained but he doesn't seem to understand simple sitting and laying commands or even his own name.
His name is Jack, he's supposed to be a white GSD but he's more sandy since his dad was black and tan. He's KC registered and up to date with his jabs. He has taken to me and lays at my feet when I'm on the computer, which makes me happy since Libby was meant to be my dog but she was more Dad's.
Sooooooo hopefully we'll be keeping him!! Will take pictures soon!
