Hello guys, long time no see. How many people are still around here these days?

I still have a few roleplay journals around LJ, a few on here on DW - I resisted coming as long as I could, and a few on IJ because hey 100 free icons! In fact, roleplaying is probably how I spend most of my free time. I can't see myself growing out of it any time soon, either.

So, my last update was December. Wow, that's bad, even for me! So, what's been happening in the world of Kristina? Not a lot - hence the lack of updates, most likely.

All photo links go to Facebook albums. The links should work since I think all my albums are public. Enjoy!

Let's see, work-wise: Still working at the school as the caretaker. My co-worker Julie left earlier this year ad in a bid to save money the school decided that instead of hiring another caretaker to replace her they would go through an agency to hire a cleaner. The company we brought in found someone and things seemed to be working okay.

Since she was only hired as a cleaner it meant I had to take on all the safety checks and tasks Julie had (but didn't get any extra hours to do them in - go figure). My only real problem with her in the beginning was she insisted on mopping the corridor floor rather than buff it and since I take longer than my allocated two hours because I'm a bit slow she would always finish first and so it was like walking on ice to get up and down the corridor - I wear crocs for work and they have zero grip and being a big girl makes balance and gravity a tricky thing at best. After awhile she changed her shift to like 5:30am instead of after school and it seemed to be going well.

A couple of weeks ago she decided she wanted to come back to doing nights but wanted to juggle around the rota since her two main areas are where after school club tend to be and they don't finish until 6pm. So, we spent a good two hours rearranging it to suit her busy schedule - so I was super late home because we did it at work, so then I was late starting my cleaning. Typed it all up on the computer, got it all worked out in my head. Got a phone call the next morning from Karen, in the school office telling me said cleaner had walked and the guy who's company hired her would be filling in until the end of July and finding a replacement for September. Not sure what this means for the Summer clean yet - whether he will do it or if I'll get those 20 hours on top of my own 20 Summer hours.

I should hopefully be getting a few extra hours a week come September because we're currently having a forth classroom added - it's meant I've been in the past few weekends unlocking for the workmen, but hey, it's all good.

February 17th-20th we had Dylan and Amy come to stay. We had lots of fun and did plenty of fun activities like making pizza and cupcakes. We also made macaroni necklaces. There was a walk to Big Nan's. And there was a lot of playing in the park! Photos.

On March 10th I took part in AMOK - Annual Melee of Kindness - one of the events Random Acts, the charity founded by Misha Collins runs. Since it coincided with Mother's Day, I decided to make my random acts of kindness centred around my Mum. I cooked for her and gave her an afternoon of pedicures and leg/foot massages. Photos.

May 3rd-6th we had Dylan and Amy come to stay again. There was a lot of playing in the park again and a long walk to the Allotment. We had a BBQ. And there was even a picnic in Big Nan's garden. Photos.

On May 31st I had my hair cut from halfway down my back to short. I love it. I donated the ponytail to Little Princesses, a charity that makes wigs for children suffering from hair loss. Photos.

On June 7th my cat Jessica finally succumbed to old age. She went naturally and we don't think she was in too much pain. The dog woke my mum up with a really loud whimpering whine. It wasn't her usual needing the loo kind of whimper so she got up to see what was wrong and it was Jess laying on the hall floor in a none-too-good state. We kept her quiet and comfortable and it wasn't long before she passed. Lady kept coming up to her and nuzzling her and trying to make her better with kisses.

Also on June 7th Liz and her friend Samara came to stay for the weekend as part of their trip around England and Wales. We went to Lincoln and visited the Castle and the Cathedral. Anyone interested in history and historical buildings should definitely come check them out - there's always a bed here for anyone who wants to come.

We also had BBQ and Sunday roast. And we walked around Digby. It was a lot of fun and I absolutely loved spending time with them. Photos.

July 23rd will mark my Nan's 90th Birthday. She decided she wanted a small garden party for the family and the idea was to get caterers to supply the food. But, being the money conscious person that I am, when I looked through the books she had got and noticed that a platter of sandwiches was £10+ for 20-24 triangles, which come on, it's only 10-12 slices of bread & filling, I suggested that I would do the catering as long as people could contribute to the cost. So, July 27th will be my Nan's party and I am officially catering.

The food list as of the moment (subject to change before the day) consists of cheese and onion sandwiches, tuna and cucumber sandwiches, egg sandwiches, ham baps, pork and stuffing baps, prawn vol-au-vonts, coronation chicken vol-au-vonts, sliced baguettes with soft cheese and grapes, smoked salmon pinwheels, mozzarella and tomato with basil, cheese and pineapple hedgehog, cheese and onion hedgehog, mini pizzas, pork pies, cocktail sausage sailboats, cocktail sausages, scotch eggs, leafy green salad, tomatoes and red onion, vegetable platter for dips, dips, pasta, potato salad, quiche, sausage rolls, chicken drumsticks, crisps, nuts, cheese board, fruit platter, profiteroles, gateaux and mini cakes.

My aunt was going to send out the invites and I phoned her last week to see if she had sent them out since it's not long to go and she hadn't even been anywhere to buy them. I know it's hard for her what with my uncle's dementia, so I said I would do them. So I made pretty gold invite cards and mailed those out.

I'm also in charge of making the birthday cake. It's going to be a two tier fruit cake. The plan is to use the gold 90 topper I've bought and then have gold butterflies and white flowers cascading down and gold ribbon around both layers. I'll also make a sponge cake for those who don't like fruit cake.

So, the next few weeks are going to be pretty busy with preparation for the party. I just want it to be perfect.

I hope you're all well and I hope to catch up with you all soon. As always, you can always catch me on AIM - gunbladedancer or on plurk - raynebowranger

I cut my hair really short this year, too! It's amazing how nice it feels. I don't think anywhere would take my ponytail, though -- I had very layered hair.
